Get Ready for 401Gives!

401Gives 2024 is just around the corner! This year, the annual RI giving event will run from 6 a.m. on Monday, April 1 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2. Last year, your giving raised $6,886 to support our busy food pantries. This year for 401Gives we have options to support our early learning / school age programs and our senior programs, as well as our food pantries.

A lot goes on at Federal Hill House, and our programs are much more connected than many realize. Some parents have children in both our Early Learning Center and School Age Child Care programs, and lean on FHH for assistance with food and resources through our community health workers. We have Foster Grandparents who work with our children in the Early Learning Center and also use our senior services for health and wellness, and some who have even volunteered at our food pantries.

It takes an entire community to ensure that all of our neighbors are able to thrive, at every stage of life. With your support this 401Gives, we will continue to ensure that our neighbors have healthy food to eat, our older community members are engaged and healthy, and our children learn and grow in a high quality childcare.

Fun in the Summer Sun at FHH!

Are you ready to leave the chilly days behind and soak up the Summer sun? We know we are, because that means it’s time for Summer Camp again! Last summer, we had more than 80 children enrolled in the ten week program, which featured a new theme every week and many field trips near and far, from Roger Williams Park and Zoo to Mystic Aquarium. And we had fun on site at FHH too, with the Providence Fire Department bringing their fleet of firetrucks during “Heroes Week”, and our performance camp putting on two variety shows during the summer with singing, dancing, skits, and even martial arts demonstrations. At FHH, your child will receive top notch care and participate in creative and intellectual activities to alleviate their summer learning loss – and have a blast while they’re doing it! Online registration will officially open on April 1, but for now, please fill out the interest form at the link below. We’re looking forward to it and we hope your are too!

Our community needs your help!

There are many ways to donate your time and your talents to Federal Hill House in 2024! We are always looking for help with:

  • Our two busy food pantries: 2023 was a record year in terms of demand for our food pantries, with 36,768 total visits, and a total of 2,043,891 pounds of food distributed. And so far in 2024, we’ve seen an even further increase in households seeking food assistance. Volunteers at our food pantries are some of the hardest-working, most dedicated people you will encounter, and they’d also be thrilled to welcome you to their team.
  • Our senior programs: Volunteer to serve lunch at our meal site, help with arts & crafts, teach a knitting/crocheting class, and more!
  • Our child care programs: Volunteer in our Early Learning Center or School Age programs: you can read to our classes, come and play with the kids, help with homework – or, just come help organize and improve our spaces.
  • Engage your team: Do you have a corporate team, faith group, or student group that would like to give back? Contact us for group volunteer opportunities – we are happy to work directly with you to complete a project together!
  • Activate Resources: Share our 401Gives profile with your network to help raise funds for FHH!
  • Consider joining our Board of Directors! We are looking for community members who may be interested in joining our finance committee, development committee, and/or our full Board of Directors.

Together the youngest and oldest members of our community connect at FHH in a way that improves quality of life for all and truly highlights what it means for our neighbors to thrive, at every stage of life.
