Hunger Action Month

23.04.26FederalHillHouse0057

According to Feeding America, one in eleven people and one in eight children experience food insecurity, meaning they don’t have access to enough food for a healthy, active life. Our pantries in Federal Hill and Olneyville, two of the busiest food pantries in Rhode Island, provide food to our neighbors – and your neighbors – regardless of income and immigration status. We believe that our entire community should be given the opportunity to thrive, and we are committed to supporting each and every one of them.

Federal Hill House is the largest partner of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, and we work with retail partners such as Shaw’s and Stop & Shop as well. Because of this network of support, our dedicated staff and volunteers are able to distribute fresh, nutritious, culturally appropriate food for our neighbors. But these are just pieces of the puzzle – we cannot do it without your support. Join us in recognizing Hunger Action Month and consider a gift to help ensure your neighbors have enough to eat this month, and every month.

Partnering with FHH

IMG_6874

All our work at Federal Hill House centers our neighbors and furthers our mission to help them thrive, at every stage of life. We are looking to engage partners that share this mindset with us – companies and businesses that want to be involved over time in the work that we do to support the city and the communities we love.

There are many ways that your company, businesses, or organization can become involved, including:

  • Sponsor our food pantries, for a day, a week, a month
  • Sponsor our annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner
  • Hold food drives, toy drives, and grocery gift card drives during the holidays
  • Bring a group of volunteers for outdoor cleanups or mural painting
  • And more!

You will be recognized heavily for your generous contributions in supporting our organization and our community. Visit the link below to learn how your and your organization can become a part of our long and storied history of helping our neighbors in Providence.

National Senior Center Month

23.04.26FederalHillHouse0039

September is also National Senior Center Month! Federal Hill House has long sponsored programs to support healthy aging and keep seniors in our community active, social and thriving. We partner with Meals on Wheels RI to serve hot meals four days per week. We offer exercise classes such as Zumba, Yoga, and Tai Chi, and wellness workshops with Blue Cross Blue Shield of RI. We offer evidence-based classes in chronic pain management and fall prevention, and opportunities for social engagement through games and activities that reduce isolation and build relationships. We offer transportation to and from the center, and offer additional support to assist seniors with accessing services such as food and health-related resources.
