Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)

The AmeriCorps Seniors Foster Grandparents Program connects adults age 55+ with children who need extra support in childcares, schools and community programs across Providence.

Volunteers engage 1:1 with children of all ages by mentoring, tutoring, and building social-emotional skills.

Foster Grandparents Program volunteers (FGPs) receive:

  • Training & ongoing support
  • Access to FHH programs for older adults, including meals, exercise, & wellness activities
  • The joy of making a difference!

Low-income participants also receive:

  • Tax-free stipend of $400 per hour for up to 25 hours / week
  • Transportation assistance

Established in 1965, FGP is a long-standing, nationwide program through the Corporation for National and Community Service.
