4-Star BrightStars Rating for School Age Child Care!

23.04.26FederalHillHouse0210

We are proud to announce that our School Age Child Care Program at Swiss Street has earned a four-star rating with BrightStars, Rhode Island’s Tiered Quality Rating and Improvement System that assesses, improves, and communicates the level of quality in early care, education and school-age settings.

This is a testament to the incredible work and dedication of our team at our before and after school programs and summer camp, and to the leadership and creativity of Chrissy Schoenberg, our school age program manager, and Stephen Larbi, our director of youth and education. Thank you for all that you do to positively impact the lives of children in our community!

In addition to licensed school age child care, FHH also runs high quality before and after school programs at Harry Kizirian and Asa Messer Elementary Schools in Providence, with funding from the Rhode Island Department of Education. And we’re still enrolling at all sites! Introducing FHH’s Family Support Team

IMG_8146

We are excited to introduce FHH’s Family Support Team – Paola Nunez Reyes, Yuberka Jimenez, and Katelinn Popp – who are embedded in our Early Learning Center, Providence Talks, and School Age Programs to assist families with supporting their child(ren)’s learning and development and with accessing needed services.

Team members are all certified parent educators through the national evidence-based Parents as Teachers model, and Katelinn and Paola are also certified community health workers. The team connects families with FHH programs and services as well as with school-based services and partner agencies in greater Providence. The family support team plays a vital role in our agency and in the community, and we are impressed with and proud of all they have been able to do to support our neighbors and our mission.

It’s Almost Tax Season!

7 Vita Volunteer Older Adult (1)-1

The joy of the holiday season is upon us … and a slighly less joyous but still rewarding season just around the corner. That’s right, it’s almost tax season! But fear not, Federal Hill House and our partners will help you work through those confusing documents and calculation headaches with another year of our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The VITA program is a free tax prep program held at our 9 Courtland Street location and at seven other partner organizations around the city of Providence. For years now, Federal Hill House has led this coalition to help thousands of low-income residents file their taxes, with the goal of maximizing their tax returns at no cost to them. We use trained volunteers, IRS-certified in tax preparation, to alleviate the burden of costly tax preparation for those who rely on every penny of a potential tax return to catch up on bills or meet their basic needs.

This year, however, your support matters more than ever. While the cost of tax prep materials rises each year, program funding remains the same. We are asking humbly for support to bridge the gap so we can help as many community members as possible to get the full tax refund that they deserve. Click below to support us and ensure that we are putting more money in the hands of our community members to support local business and fuel the economy of our great city.
